What is a Unicorn?
A unicorn is a magical horse and a legandary creature with one single, large, spiraling, and glorious horn on its head. Their horn is told to possess magical and healing powers. It can also neautrilize poision and purify water. The unicorn has many other features such as a long and shimmering mane, hooves, and a lushious white coat. It is sometimes shown with a goat's beard as well. A unicorn is a symbol of grace and purity and can only be captured by a virgin. They are described as woodland creatures and inhabit on mountains to reach the rainbows where they feed. Because they cannot fly, unicorns climb the mountains to reach their main food source on the rainbows. On the rainbows, they eat candy corn (the only and most important food source) which grows on the rainbows (this also explains why they are multicolored) but if they cannot acess the candy, they survive by eating grass, a non-nutritious substitute.
Unicorns also have many relations to other creatures. They are cousins of the narwhal and the pegasus. The narwhal is the unicorn of the sea. They both possess a single horn but only the unicorn's is magical. The pegasus is also alike to the unicorn but does not posses a horn. Instead they have wings but look a lot like the unicorn with their manes and coat.
Unicorn History
There is a lot of history behind the unicorns. While many mythic creatures are man-eating monsters or evil spirits, others, like unicorns, are powerful and peaceful. Both the pearly white unicorn of European lore and the benevolent Asian unicorn avoid contact with humans, preferring to remain unseen. When humans do encounter unicorns, the creatures cause them no harm, a favor that is not always returned. Indeed, countless stories tell of humans hunting European unicorns and luring them into traps. In modern fairy tales and other stories, the mythic unicorn looks like a white horse with a single long horn on its head. But in older stories, this fantastic creature had a short, colored horn and the body of a goat.
